We are currently working through our appointment books to accommodate available dates to book requested Immigration Medical Assessments. We would appreciate the following information so that we can accommodate your request and book you in.

Medical Assessments General or Limited

Payment is to be made on the day of appointment.

Full Medical - Adult (14+): $300.00

Full Medical - Under 14 years - $250.00

X-Ray Consult only - $170.00

The fee paid to St. John’s Medical Centre covers only the clinical services and examinations provided within our clinic. Any required blood tests or chest X-rays must be paid for separately and directly to the hospital. Please note that Bloods and Xrays are done at the Whanganui Hopsital.

Q: How do I book an Immigration Medical?

Please do not call the standard booking line for this. Instead, please complete the online form right here on our website under the Immigration Medical tab, or visit our clinic in person to fill out the paperwork. Remember, you must bring your physical passport with you.

Q: How much does an Immigration Medical cost, and what does it cover?

The fee paid to St. John’s Medical Centre covers only the clinical services and examinations provided within our clinic.

Q: What if I need an interpreter for my Immigration Medical?

If you or your family member requires assistance communicating in English, please note the strict safety, legal, and Immigration New Zealand requirements below:

When is an interpreter required? Immigration New Zealand mandates that a professional interpreter must be present if the patient cannot comfortably and fluently complete a complex medical consultation, give an accurate medical history, or understand clinical instructions in English.
Approved Interpreters Only: To ensure legal and clinical accuracy, the interpreter must be an official, independent professional. Family members, friends, or children cannot act as interpreters under any circumstances during your medical exam.
Organize in Advance: Please notify our clinic team that you require an interpreter as soon as you submit your paperwork. This must be arranged and confirmed before your appointment date to ensure a certified professional is available.
Fees: Please note that any costs associated with booking a professional interpreter are the responsibility of the patient.

Medlab Bloods and X-ray - Cost depends on what bloods are requested by Immigration NZ. (Cash is not accepted at the Hospital) – Please note this is an additional charge. Please note all results take 10 working days to be submitted from the date of consult.

Interpreters
If applicants do not speak the language of the Panel Physician, arrangements are to be made for an interpreter. Costs for an interpreter are the responsibility of the applicant, except in the case of refugees included in New Zealand’s refugee quota programme. The Panel Physician must be satisfied as to the interpreter’s impartiality, confidentiality, and ability to interpret accurately. The interpreter should not be a family member or a representing agent due to a potential conflict of interest, as well as to avoid the risk of misinformation leading to a misdiagnosis.

‍The questions on this form will allow us to find a booking date and time and generate an Emedical case prior to your booked appointment and prepare a booking for Radiology.

The immigration medical examination is conducted in accordance with the Immigration New Zealand Panel Member Instructions.

The purpose of this examination is to assess your health in relation to New Zealand’s immigration health requirements.

This examination is not a comprehensive health check-up and may not detect all medical conditions.
The panel physician’s role is to collect and report medical information to Immigration New Zealand; they do not make the final decision on your immigration application.
Any findings unrelated to immigration requirements will be communicated to you, and you are encouraged to follow up with your own healthcare provider.
Immigration New Zealand will determine whether you meet the health requirements for your visa application based on the medical information provided.
